Now that I’ve managed to cool down I wanted to prepare a more dedicated post, especially for those who may not read what I write at the bottom of the Weekly Issues.
Top in Fiction is hosting a small writing event. A short-short story event. Because, let’s face it, it’s too darn hot!
[INSERT MUSICAL NUMBER HERE]
Setting the great Ann Miller’s talents aside for a moment. Heat can bring about a great many things in a writer’s imagination:
Anger
Desire
Obsession
Madness
Transformation
Secrets bubbling to the surface
Relationships rekindled
And in this case set your imagination free and let it run wild! But, beware of the carefully thought-out parameters with which you must operate. Cleverly disguised as guidelines you must follow or BURN in the Summer heat!
Write a short-short story up to 1,500 words
Any genre is accepted.
If it should have a TW (Trigger Warning) attached to it, be sure to include that first, before the story begins.
Schedule your story to be shared with your subscribers on Friday, July 31st at 10am EST.
Keep an ear to the ground because I’ll be back with another post like this to collect your Story URL so a massive Top in Fiction email can go out on July 31st and you’ll want to make sure your story gets on the list! Look for that email on Wednesday, July 29th.
Are you joining this HEATWAVE? Make your intentions known by commenting on this post.

Perhaps an unnecessary question, but 10 AM in which time zone? 😇
