It will include very important information with regards to opportunities for writers within the Top in Fiction and TiF Press family. So, make sure you read this whenever you see it as it won’t necessarily be in every Sunday email.

After concluding 31 days of Pentober today we’re not stopping there but we are scaling back! Starting this Sunday, for 9 weeks, we’ll be doing some practice words to get us ready for a full year of Pentober every Sunday in 2026. You’ll find us our Substack Chat every Sunday sharing what we’ve written using pen and paper.

Have you read a story in this community you really enjoyed or that really moved you? Maybe you’d like to let that person know? Maybe you don’t want them to know it came from you? Let Top in Fiction help you out! We’ll be celebrating all of those creative people we know and love from this year, and years past, by sharing the stories we love that they wrote and perhaps a note or two of Thanks. Sign-up week is November 17th - November 21st and for the Day of Thanks Live on Monday, November 24th.

Sign-up week is from November 10th - November 14th. To participate you must have a plot idea for the theme, What’s Inside the Box?, and be prepared to write a short story from 11/17 - 12/19. A Substack Live is scheduled for Monday, December 22nd.

Share fiction you’ve read AND/OR fiction you’ve written. (Self-promotion of your fiction is welcome!)
If self-promoting, submit NO MORE THAN 2 stories! This is a strict rule that will be enforced.
Story must be Free-to-Read (No portion of it can be behind a paywall).
Story must be written in English.
We DO NOT accept stories written by AI. If we discover, at any time, that AI was used, the story will be removed.
