Extra: Inspired by both Tennyson's The Lady of Shalott, and paintings of the same subject by the likes of JW Waterhouse. This is the first part - it's likely to be four parts in total.
Extra: Next chapter in a cozy, sci-fi story about the building of a space station. Leah sold off her computer fix-it shop on the planet Izra and left her life on solid ground to live among the stars, with no prior experience of how to do it. Now, Leah has a list a mile long, and on a ship this old, sometimes things just don’t work right.
Extra: Officer Kavesh confronts a woman who he suspects is having a bad drug reaction. The reality is a much more sinister event unfolding in the middle of a convenience store.
Extra: Part 2 of a horror/fantasy serial set in a Western Style land. Ben meets a stranger who reveals a disturbing truth about the night he came to town.
Extra: After learning from the protégé Nihal of a grave betrayal, Quibble dismisses the array of Zeros protecting her and goes rogue. On Utopia's advice, Alnasl seeks answers in the lord Cebalrai's hive and stumbles upon the sinister plot behind Nihal's disclosure. (About the novel: A sci-fi adventure, love story, dystopian warning, and poetic meditation on transhumanism, QUIBBLE asks what a technological singularity will mean for humanity’s survival — and exactly what might survive.)
Extra: A man returns to his grandparents house, and on his short walk away, he steps into the stages of his life as the seasons change until he’s where he is now, affected by the cyclical nature of time and loss.
Extra: After a hearty discussion with my girlfriend about how too many artists are concerned about whether their art is good or bad instead of expression, I was inspired to write something I'd never written before. A Bad Story is exactly what it sounds like: a funny story that is supposed to be bad. Think of it like noise music or anti-art.
Extra: An indie-rock opera lyric graphic-short serial midrash adventure revolving around the question, of what do you do when a snake oil plague doctor turns your lover into your enemy? It's recommended to start at chapter 1 and try solving the mystery of the source material at the end of the chapters.
Extra: Since he was twelve, Cosmo has spent every summer worth remembering with Aris, who swooped in and saved him from the tumult and uncertainty of his parents' divorce. Now eighteen, they're on yet another summer adventure but with new and unfamiliar expectations crowding their lives. Will this summer be like all the rest, or will it be the summer Cosmo and Aris say goodbye?
Extra: Today was a little too interesting, Hal thought--sinkholes, prophecies, talking bears... He was relieved to come home and find only the ordinary kind of drama.
Extra: The other sub-genre here is humour. It's 1,500 words, so a bit too long to be flash-fic. It's instructions for new (human) students thinking of enrolling on the QT101 course at Tau Ceti Three. It's very funny and brimful of offbeat futuristic/SF philosophy and you may need a drink or two to help you get through it (not a pan galactic gargle blaster though - that would be dangerous).
Extra This story is the perfect antidote to what’s happening these very days. You might even need to read this warm dip into friendship, identity and all the possibilities that come with daring to pay attention. You can find Pt 1 on a link on the page
Extra: A monster prowls the edges of the Courts, slaughtering any fey it runs across. It’s up to Kestrel and Jasper, the Knights of the faerie queens, to stop the monster. But in order to do so, they’ll have to unravel curses and centuries of distrust.
Extra: The main character absolutely hates the cold, even though she is currently living up north. Her brother convinces her to go outside and check out something cool in the hills surrounding their house.
Extra: There’s a cold-blooded psychopath on the loose whose intent is to render everyone in New York illiterate. The city that never sleeps won’t sleep until the man who killed storytelling is brought to justice.
Extra: Balgair and Heather await the arrival of his other two Bhannan. Amelia and Nell have arrived aboard the Moon Touched. A tender family reunion takes place.
Extra: Heartened by the revelations of his weekend, William recommits himself to his program of subversive 'old curriculum' teaching. After school, he enacts a plan he's devised to correct his unhealthy sleeping habits.
Extra: A story of two families, inspired by the recent fatal flooding in Valencia, Spain. A reflection on how the choices of the wealthily insulated affect the relatively disadvantaged.
Extra: A merchant in the Serene Republic of Venice receives a strange calling to the east. He must decide whether to ignore the omens or pursue his destiny to Byzantium and beyond. There's also a talking donkey.
Extra: Six friends assemble at mysterious Loch Kaille for a 25th birthday celebration. When one of them is found dead after a violent storm, the survivors begin to suspect and then turn against each other. All under the watchful eye of something Wicked.
Extra: Written in the style of an introduction for a scholarly book that doesn't exist, this story discusses one sociologist's years-long pursuit for secret societies based on "idolatrous" beliefs of the Biblical era.
Extra: Chapter 1 of the prequel to my novel, Transference. A sarcastic and disaffected Micah has a wild night and wakes up to a very different reality. High in sarcasm and light in ethereal horror.
“Death, the Only Misunderstood” follows a soul guided by Death through reflections on life and memory. Set in a hauntingly beautiful landscape, it explores love, loss, and the truths we carry with us.
