Two New Writing Adventures Await This November ✍️
New events. Fresh prompts. Endless storytelling possibilities.
Hello Storytellers,
tl;dr The countdown is on. From November 1st to 30th, we’re diving into Novel-Vember, our 50,000-word writing sprint hosted on the TiF Press Forums. Then, starting November 2nd, we’re kicking off PENTOBER52, a handwritten story challenge that stretches through 2026. Two different paces, one goal: keep the creative spark alive long after the month ends.
November is shaping up to be a big month for Top in Fiction — we’re diving headfirst into two community events designed to spark creativity and keep your writing momentum strong.
Novel-Vember (November 1 – 30)
Our own spin on NaNoWriMo! The goal is the same — write 50,000 words in 30 days — but we’re hosting everything over on the TiF Press Forums. It’s free to join, and we’ll have check-in posts, word count encouragement, and (depending on participation) weekly writing sprints to keep the energy up. This is our first year running Novel-Vember, so things might look a little barebones — but we plan to make it bigger, better, and more writer-friendly every year.PENTOBER52 (Every Sunday starting November 2nd thru 2026)
For those who loved Pentober, we’re keeping the spirit alive! PENTOBER52 will run every Sunday in 2026, with a single-word prompt to inspire a handwritten story. You’ll share your creations in Substack Chat, keeping the cozy, creative vibe going all year long. To get everyone ready, we’re launching a 9-week practice round starting November 2nd — a perfect warm-up for what’s to come.
Whether you’re ready to sprint through a novel or just want a weekly dose of handwriting therapy, there’s something for everyone this season. Come write with us, experiment, and help us grow these traditions from the ground up.
