We’ve got some exciting news: Top in Fiction is turning on paid subscriptions!

Before anything else — nothing changes for free readers.
We’ll never put our fiction or features behind a paywall. Ever.

So why go paid?
Because it’s time to start paying writers.

It’s been 18 months since Top in Fiction launched — 18 months of publishing stories, learning from this amazing community, and figuring out how to best support the people who make fiction thrive.

Along the way, we’ve learned a lot. And we hope we’ve also earned your trust — as a publication that genuinely cares about fiction and about the writers, editors, and readers who keep it alive.

Our goal has always been to bolster and celebrate great writing, and we want Top in Fiction to continue being a shining example of that kind of space.

Here’s what’s next

Beginning January 1, 2026, paid subscriptions will directly support fiction writers through a 75/25 revenue split —

• 75% to the writers we feature

• 25% to keeping Top in Fiction running strong

💛 $5/month — Patron
🧡 $10/month — Advocate
❤️ $15/month — Champion

In February/March 2026, we’ll open for exclusive fiction submissions, and we’ll be fully transparent about how much we’ve raised — and exactly how much each chosen writer is paid.

Our long-term goal is to reach a place where we can pay for fiction more than once a month, making sure every story is fairly and meaningfully compensated.
