The Send Us Your Fiction Database is a comprehensive list of all stories recommended each week! Use it to find even more fiction to read!
TiF Around Town…
Two things I wanted to bring up for those of you who are recommending your work or someone else’s when the submission form opens up:
Please read the bloody rules! The work you recommend MUST be between the dates that are outlined at the top of the form AND in the TiF Notifications email that goes out every Friday morning. There is really no excuse for NOT following this simple rule for the story that is being shared. Why am I such a stickler for this? Because I’m releasing the Top in Fiction every damn week! If you prefer I do this once a month then sure, I can do that and you can go ahead and share work from any time in the last 30 days. But I go through a painstakingly LONG and ARDUOUS process to keep a fresh list every week by offering ONLY work that is from the previous 7 days. There is NO TIME that you can’t share your work. EVERY Friday. So, please, show me that you care even just a little bit about the work I’m putting into this and you care about the time being put into it as well by simply making sure the story you share is, in fact, within the 7 day time period. Because, and you may not know this, if your story ISN’T in those 7 days I remove your submission from the list and then you are put on a separate list as someone who I won’t recommend for a period of time. It’s rather easy to stay off that list, just follow the rules of when the story is posted!
Check your link AND your date. I’ve noticed a lot of typos lately when it comes to the Date of the post and the link for the story specifically. I do stop and I do open and read each and every submission. Some weeks I get close to 75! Having to stop and make corrections to your submission is not a great foot to get on with me. Why do I have to correct these mistakes? Again, you may not know this but ALL recommendations, regardless of being featured or not, are kept in a “Database” that anyone who wants to can search to find an endless supply of stories going all the way back to April of this year (I’m still in the process of manually adding recommendations from January - March of this year). That’s over 1,000 stories! And I’ve made sure to clean every link and correct every typo of date, name, publication, title, etc. that I see before I import the CSV into Notion where the Database is kept. I’m trying to get LESS errors. Not more.
Also, I want to talk a bit about the Wall of Serials as I’ve been getting the same question from multiple people as it pertains to submissions. I will be adding this answer to the FAQs as well, but here are some key points you need to know about the Wall of Serials:
The Wall of Serials is a dedicated page on TiF Press that will open to everyone to view and to submit serials to in September 2026.
Right now we are only accepting Active serials of any genre or length.
If you put in to be included on the Wall of Serials you should still submit your current serial (chapter / episode / part / etc.) using the form.
Apart from being on the wall, at the top of the page will be a section for “Current Chapters/Episodes of the Week” and this area will be filled by your submission in the form.
Who will be listed? Right now it is a first come first served basis. Meaning, you not only want to submit your latest chapter/episode of your serial but you want to do it ASAP because I will only list the first 5 - 10 that are submitted.
This section is so that the active serials can get a chance to show/prove that they are active by sharing what is new on their serial “this week.”
Will we be accepting Completed Serials or Short Serials? Yes. We will accept these in early 2026.
What is a Short Serial? A short serial is a story typically divided into parts (ex. Part 1 - Part 3) or a novella/novelette that is UNDER 50k words when finished.
I hope this answers the questions many of you have had pertaining to serials and whether or not you should continue to submit when you’ve got a new chapter/episode each week.
TiF Press News
Welcome to a new section in our weekly emails where I’ll share whatever important news is happening over on our TiF Press website, including any articles that may have posted exclusively over there as well from the last week! In Issue #35, September 1st, I’ll be putting out an official call for fiction and non-fiction pieces that you can submit and have featured (or cross-posted) directly on TiF Press in order to reach a much larger audience and a brand new place for readers to get even more fiction content to read!
I’ll also be sharing news about release plans for TiF Press’s very first Anthology, Eye See You. And our very first digital-first magazine filled with micro/flash fiction Story Stack stories, that will have a paid subscription model and offer paying writers for each accepted Story Stack!
