TiF Around Town…
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to many updates and reminders and especially TiF Notification emails being sent on Mondays, the usual Monday weekly emails will be delivered on Tuesdays. This will likely happen for the rest of 2025.
Keeping it short and sweet as there is a lot happening behind-the-scenes at Top in Fiction.
What can you look forward to this October (and beyond) on Top in Fiction?
Pentober 2025 - Let’s return to pen and paper and write some stories every single day. 31 days. 31 prompts. Ink, paper, terror! Let’s go! Follow along on Substack Notes, our Forum, and soon we’ll have weekly round-up emails to share with you some highlights of those who participated in this event.
Inanimate Objects on Halloween Day - The contest/event is happening now. Many writers in and out of the horror genre are writing their stories in preparation. On Halloween Day we’ll host a Live show to reveal the winning story and discuss the stories submitted. The judges will also be revealed and might be joining me too!
A TiF Day of Thanks - Help us celebrate the amazing stories and the writers behind them by sharing your words of thanks with them. On Tuesday, November 25th I will go Live to share some of these Notes of Thanks. Prepare for the warm and fuzzies. [Time TBA]
A TiF Secret Santa Plot-Swap - This holiday season, look forward to stories written by the fiction community, using each other’s plot idea! Should be a good one! Sign-up begins November 10th and on Monday, December 22nd the stories will go Live, as will I, to reveal whose story was written using whose plot!
**TiF PRESS NEWS**
New section for these weekly newsletters! Starting this October we’ll be more intentional with sharing all that can be found on TiF Press worth checking out, specifically for readers of fiction.
A StoryStack Round-Up - We’ve been busy coming up with creative challenges and prompts for the fiction community to participate in them. One such challenge is writing a StoryStack. You can find out what that is beginning in October when we start to share a round-up of select StoryStacks from the previous month.
Fiction of the Month - Beginning in October we’ll start sharing at least one piece of fiction that has already been published (usually on the original writer’s Substack) and we’ve been given permission to cross-post it on the TiF Press website.
ReviewStack - You may not be aware, but
is prolific in finding and reviewing some truly amazing (and diamond in the rough) fiction that you should check out. His reviews are short, strong, and to the point. But most of all, the work he’s reviewing is definitely worth checking out. You can read his backlog here and moving forward we’ll share links to his most recent reviews. All events listed below can also be found on our Calendar of Events page.
Inanimate Objects [A TiF Disruption Event] - Monday, September 15th to Wednesday, October 15th - The next TiF Press writing event is happening and if you see what’s happening with the Eye See You event, then you’ll want to get in on this one! As per usual you can opt to enter the contest or just write a story to participate in the event which is happening on Friday, October 31st for Halloween. More information such as word count length, theme, and submissions link as well as sponsors and promotional illustration can be found HERE!
